The Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA), passed by the United States Congress, aims to modernize and enhance affordable housing programs administered by HUD. Its goal is to improve efficiency, flexibility, and responsiveness to the needs of low-income individuals and families. However, implementing these changes often necessitates updates to software systems, forms, and procedures, presenting challenges for both housing providers and software vendors. Behind the scenes, ShofCorp has been diligently working on updating our software and database design to accommodate this new mandate. While we anticipate most software vendors will implement HOTMA changes around October 2024, the exact timeline depends on HUD's release of new forms and guidelines, making it uncertain. We will keep our customers updated as we progress towards future HOTMA milestones. In the meantime, we strongly recommend seeking HOTMA training from national providers to stay informed and prepared for these changes.
